The Master’s in Pak Studies is a broad perspective of knowledge. The course includes various degrees of understanding about Pakistan studies. This includes constitutionalism, economic parameters, and cultural heritage. The purpose is to analyze the patterns of social change in the country. In addition, to locate Pakistan in the contemporary world scenario, a special emphasis is placed on its regional and global interaction with other states in both the Cold War and Post-Cold War periods. As the course is extensive and updated, it enables the student to compete academically in this age of advancement, and also opens up new avenues for his/her employment in practical life.
Introduction to Pakistan Studies
This course is designed to impart the basic knowledge and understanding of Pakistan studies. It is an introductory level course, which can be taken as the first step towards advanced study in Pakistan Studies. The course includes the following topics:
Constitutional History
The constitutional history of Pakistan has been a subject of considerable interest and study since the establishment of the country. The constitutional structure of Pakistan has been influenced by various factors such as British colonial legacy, pre-partitioning India, and non-partitioned India’s role in the partition. The constitution has also been influenced by political parties who have played a key role in shaping its nature and functioning over the years.
Pakistan Studies: Major Issues
This course deals with some major issues facing Pakistan today which include:

The Economic Environment of Pakistan
Pakistan Studies: The Economic Environment of Pakistan
This course deals with some of the key economic issues facing Pakistan today. This course will focus on such issues as:
• Foreign Aid
• Energy Policy
• Agriculture and Rural Development
• Industry and Trade Policy • Social Sector Issues • Public Finance
Admission Eligibility Criteria:
The department conducts the admission test for students seeking admission to the Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Science (MSc) programs. For the MA program, it conducts an entrance examination and interviews. For the MSc program, it conducts an entrance examination and interviews. Candidates who are successful in the entrance examinations will be shortlisted for interviews. The final selection is based on performance during the interview process. A candidate for admission into 2-years MA program in Pakistan Studies must have at least BA/BSc (with at least 50% marks) or equivalent degree from the HEC recognized institutions.
